Once a child is able to be more independent, parents will see drastic changes from them. A parent can see that the child has more confidence because he knows that he can already do things on his own. Another thing is that he sometimes gets embarrassed when you tell him something that he already knows. Snooping on his things is also a big mistake you can make so give him privacy but make sure to know what is going on. Try to trust him in everything that he does and give him the freedom to decide on his own.
Nevertheless, explain to him the consequences that may arise from these decisions. He must be prepared to embrace whatever the outcome is. You are just there to guide your child as he makes his own road of his life. You can pave the way for him, you can only makeblueprints. It is up to him if he will continue it or not. As parents, be also sensitive enough if you think that your child is not happy with what you are doing and saying. You cannot confine them inside the house throughout his life so make sure that he is prepared to face the world. '
Child safety is one of the things that parents are constantly worried about. Whether you are at home or outside, you are never too sure if the environment is safe or not; you can only guess and pray. At home, you should try to explain to the children which objects can be harmful to them like knives. Showing them how to hold it properly just adds to their feeling of being more independent and matured. Though sometimes parents, especially mothers, try to baby their kids too much that the childrenbecome too dependent on their parents. How are you supposed to teach them to be independent when you, yourself, cannot admit that your child has grown?
Being independent and being safe are two different things but go hand-in-hand. Being safe does not necessarily mean that you are independent but when you are independent, you try to keep yourself safe. Crossing the street can be a sign that one is cautious and at the same time independent. You cannot make your child independent overnight because he should learn on his own how to do so. Being safe on the other hand goes the same way. Children should try to stay away from places and objects that might cause accidents and unwanted outcomes to them.
